Marble fudge squares was one of my favorite treats that my mom use to make when I was still living at home. They are so incredibly delicious! The cake is chocolaty with a hint of sour cream, then swirled with cream cheese (which I always love!) and topped with chocolate chips. They are the texture of a cake, not a brownie, but I eat them more like I would eat a brownie. You can cut them into squares, pick them up and eat them. My mom doesn't remember where the original recipe came from. She thinks it came off the back of a coupon or a magazine years ago. Thankfully she wrote it down, because I have not been able to find anything when I've searched online.
Ingredients:
Cream cheese swirl:
8oz pkg cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
Cake:
2 cups flour
1 teas. baking soda
1/2 teas. salt
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup water
1&1/2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream( I used reduced fat and didn't notice a difference)
6oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
Beat cream cheese mixture until smooth, set aside. Mix together flour, baking soda and salt, set aside. Melt butter, unsweetened chocolate, and water together in saucepan. Bring to boil. Remove from heat. Stir in flour mixture. Add sour cream and mix. Add eggs and mix. Last add sugar and mix together until somewhat smooth.(Mine still was a little lumpy) Pour into a greased 9X13 pan. Drop cream cheese mixture onto cake by spoonfuls. Swirl with knife. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes
Note: Next time I will bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.

Kathy, you're welcome! They're one of my favorites!
Wow they look packed,
So chunky and chocolaty! yum.
These were great as is. BUT is the chocolate amount correct? at !-1/2 oz? This was not very chocolatey, but was absolutely great! I would add more chocolate. Please let me know. I love your recipes!
Thanks
jolantall- It is one and a half ounces of unsweetened chocolate(so a 1 whole square and a half of a square)Is that what you used? These squares definitely has more of a semi-sweet chocolaty taste to them. I bet it would taste great though with more chocolate also!:)
Thanks for provide such a great site. I really enjoyed that.
